Have you ever had someone in your life that you could not tolerate to be away from? For me, that is my sister. Joice and I are identical twins and very close to each other. Since birth we have been inseparable, which created a unique relationship. We were always in the same classes even through college.
Immediately following graduation I got married, literally the next weekend! Initially my sister felt left out, but God is good and she got married 6 months after me (lucky her). But the sad part is that my husband got a job in Texas and her husband in South Dakota. Our hearts grew sad and our phone bills super high! God knows everything! He helped us to grow individually, and develop (finally) on our own. God also knows the importance for us to see each other.
Since we were little we knew the importance of taking pictures to document life, so we could always remember those special moments. Of course always carrying a camera with us helped grow our love for art and photography. We followed our passion and graduated with a degree in advertising and marketing, along with sneaking in a few extra courses in photography. About a year later we decided to pursue professional photography separately, my sister in South Dakota, and me in Texas. Shortly afterwards my beautiful sister (she looks just like me) asked if I would like to team up with her to photograph weddings. I thought that it was a good idea, but I did not pursue it too much since we were so far apart, and I was also working a part-time job as a marketing assistant.
After a few months of putting off what I felt could be my dream job, I decided to quit my other job and become a full time photographer. Now I can tell you that I feel complete, there is nothing like doing what you love. Since dedicating more of my time to photography, doors have opened up for both of us and now we are able to see each other 2 to 3 times a month for photoshoots. We changed our phone plans so that we don’t pay extra for all the time spent talking to each other. And we enjoy working together doing what we love!
What a great journey this has been for us! God united us in our mother’s womb, separated us for a purpose and then reunited us far greater then what we were expecting.
If you don’t understand why things are happening in your life right now, do what I did: give it to God. Rest in the knowledge that He knows what He is doing. He will make it happen for you, don’t give up!
